After a great breakfast, Meg’s Mom, Meg, Rich and I all drove about an hour to her extended family's cabin. It is in a very beautiful place, right on the beach (on stilts) and looking over the water at the Olympic mountain range. This picture of Meg and Rich, above, shows some of the view. Meg and her family pile into the place in the summer and enjoy boating, outdoor activities, and spending time together. I imagine this place is one of the reasons the extended family remains very close.
We drove back to Tacoma, had a light lunch, and prepared for Thanksgiving at Meg’s Aunt Tony and Uncle Andy’s place. Fantastic! They’d decorated the Thanksgiving table with leaves and flowers – none of them admits to being an artist, but I have serious suspicions – and made the physical surroundings as lush as their welcome was warm. Meg’s family reminds me of mine – lots of enthusiasm for each other; exciting conversation; great appetites. I think there were about 16 of us at dinner, and we wrapped the evening up with a fun word game called Balderdash.
What ARE those two doing?
